Tired of Feeling Like a Yo-Yo?

How many times have you made that leap into the world of calorie-counting and vow to exercise faithfully in order to lose your "winter weight" or lose the unwanted pounds before some big event? Are you tired of not getting the results you want? Over the ravenous cravings and then the complete fall from the wagon? Put the yo-yo down...get off the roller coaster and step into Defined Movement at Heartland GC!
The first step is easy, just sign up and make the commitment to become accountable to a fitness coach, who has your better health in mind and the tools to help you be successful. Second, you will be educated on exercise needs and nutritional requirements to become a fat-burning machine. Thirdly, you will be given a food journal with specific guidelines for calories and protein intake, as well as an eating schedule. Next, you will have baseline weights and measurements taken, which include: body weight, body mass index (BMI), body fat percentage, as well as waist, hip and bicep measurements. These measurements are placed in your food journal and realistic short term and long term goals are set for the next body assessment in four weeks. Finally, your fitness coach will outline an exercise program for you to begin in our gym.
Once you have started this program, we will review your food journal each time you are in the gym and we will give you constructive criticism on where you can improve and what you have done that has been positive and beneficial to the goals you have set for yourself.
Additionally, our fitness coaches take the time to contact you by email daily to provide daily encouragement, give exercise tips, or simply remind you that you are on a journey and not to stop until you reach the destination. Interaction with you helps to keep you accountable and us accessible to you.
Right now, we have several DM clients who have achieved multiple personal goals with several completing their first 5K races last year and some continuing on to complete the Columbus Half Marathon in November. We are so proud of their commitment to fitness and find them to be fine examples of what a little accountability and encouragement from one of our fitness coaches can do when combined with their desire to go beyond the average weight management program.

  1. I was not expecting what I got when a friend told me about the “program” 9 months ago:

    May 09 - 1st heard of HEARTLAND.
Took me a few weeks to decide to give it a try. After all, what have I got to lose (no pun intended)? Michelle and the staff seemed nice and I could just do it for a couple of months…
    June 09-Joined the "Wellness" program---the month I turned 50
    1st question----Your goal? My response----uhhhh, 25#? (Sounds confident, doesn't it?)
If any of you are anything like me. The thoughts go thru you head “yeah, right!”
    July-Oct 09
    Losing weight and inches.
Did a "Triple Threat" (30 min total on 3 diff pieces of equip)
Starting participating in a "Ball class"
    Nov-Dec 09
    Ran a 5K on a Treadmill.
Still participating in the Ball Class
    Seeing consistent loss of weight/inches.

    2010
    Ball Class & YOGA

As of Feb 8th—Met my 1st goal of 25# also lost a total of 13-7/8”!! I did it!!!! They said I could but, honestly, I had doubts.

    Now I have new goals:
    1-Another 15# to lose
    2-Training for a 10K by July
3-Then maybe the Bourbon Chase (check back in Oct to see what happens here.....)

I finally have put an end to the Yo-Yo. This was the best decision I have made for myself. Going to work-out is actually fun and when I can’t go, I miss it. The staff is wonderful and has made this something that I tell EVERYONE about.

    A couple of side notes:
1-I haven’t weighed this since before my son 27 years ago, except on the roller coaster up & down.
2-My son never thought he would hear me talk of “working out” “running a 5K” and especially “training for a 10K” and a “200 mile/24 hour relay race”
3-I now help my neighbors shovel their snow instead of them helping me!

You are not just a number at Heartland. They knew my name and made me feel important. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.
    By the way........ALL WORTH IT!!!

  2. Vicky...it was a lot of work on your end or the program simply does not work. Your dedication cutting out the Sunday morning doughnuts and the late night snacking also played a part in your success. I am certain that with continued diligence you will meet the new goals you have set for yourself. Remember to stretch, drink lots of water, and cross train. Too much of any one thing can be overload...except for Heartland, of course! You are an inspiration to many middle-aged women out there, who see that hard work pays off and the results are real!!! Thank you so much for sharing the accumulative numbers...they are quite impressive! We will be with you training for the 10k! This is so exciting.

  3. Been awhile since posting anything, so just a little update. Things I would not have done before joining the Defined Movement program:
Exercise or classes related to exercise, Running, biking, any kind of "athalons", get the idea? Well, here's what I HAVE DONE since joining: Exercise regularly, ball/step/yoga/circuit & strength training classes, run 5k's, 10k's, 5 miler, biked 21.88 & 34.84 miles within a 2 week period, a duathalon...& the list keeps growing. If you would have ask me 1 year ago, 6 months ago or even 3 months ago if I expected to have done any of these-I would have answered NO. Good thing I have witnesses/proof-no one would believe me otherwise! Best program I ever joined!
